DayShape
Last updated: September 1, 2026 · Effective upon app release
The Short Version
DayShape is a local-first app. Your time records, categories, goals, and schedules are stored on your device. We operate no servers and receive none of your data. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. Optional cross-device sync uses your own private iCloud (CloudKit) database, which we cannot access. The app contains zero third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
1. Who We Are
DayShape ("the App") is developed by the DayShape team ("we", "us"). Contact: support@dayshape.app.
2. Data We Collect
None. DayShape is designed as a zero-personal-data-collection product:
- No name, email address, phone number, or account of any kind.
- No precise or coarse location.
- No device identifiers, IDFA, or fingerprinting.
- No usage analytics, crash-reporting SDKs, or behavioral tracking.
- No advertising identifiers, cookies, or pixels. This website also uses no analytics or tracking.
The only information we could ever receive is what you voluntarily send us (for example, a support email) — which is used solely to respond to you.
3. Where Your Data Lives
- Local-first storage. All time entries, activity categories, daily goals, ideal schedule templates, and settings are stored in a local database on your device. The App works fully offline.
- Optional iCloud sync. If you explicitly enable it in Settings, the App syncs your data through Apple CloudKit into your private iCloud database. This sync is off by default. Your iCloud data is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy; we have no access to your private CloudKit database. Turning sync off does not delete your local data.
- Export & backup. You may export CSV or JSON backups at any time. These files are generated on-device and go only where you choose to send them.
4. Third-Party Services and SDKs
The App integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking SDKs. The only third party involved in operating the App is Apple:
- CloudKit / iCloud — only if you enable sync (Section 3).
- StoreKit / In-App Purchase — for optional Pro purchases (Section 5). Payment information is processed entirely by Apple; we never see or store your payment details.
- TestFlight — if you join the beta, Apple collects crash logs and diagnostics under Apple's own privacy policy. You control this in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements).
5. Purchases and Subscriptions (StoreKit)
Optional Pro purchases (monthly/yearly auto-renewable subscriptions or a one-time lifetime purchase, with an introductory free trial where offered) are processed exclusively by Apple via StoreKit. We receive only an anonymized entitlement status (whether Pro is active) from the App Store — never your Apple ID, payment method, or billing address. Subscription management, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms.
6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because we hold no personal data about you, most data-rights requests are satisfied by design:
- Access / portability — use the in-app CSV/JSON export.
- Deletion — delete entries in the App, or uninstall the App; local data is removed with it. To remove synced data, delete the App's data in iCloud Settings.
- Correction — all records are editable in the App.
- Objection / restriction — there is no processing on our side to object to.
If you believe we hold any personal data about you (e.g., a support email thread), contact support@dayshape.app and we will respond within 30 days. EU/EEA users may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
7. Data Security
Your data is protected by your device's built-in protections (device passcode, encryption at rest) and, when sync is enabled, by Apple's CloudKit security. Since no data reaches us, there is no server-side breach surface on our end.
8. Children's Privacy
DayShape does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). No account system exists, so no age-specific data handling is required.
9. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and note material changes in the App's release notes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
